Pond fish breeding is the induced breeding of the pond fish. There are fishes which do not breed naturally in confined waters of the pond. They need flowing water that too one which is flooded. Such fishes are reared and grown in the pond till they reach sexual maturity. These fishes then are given hormone injections, one or two to stimulate them to mate and breed. This is called pond breeding of the fishes. In the case of some fishes, stripping of the eggs is done and these are then fertilized by mixing them with the milt of the males.

Ponds are usually human-constructed. In villages, farmers dig a pond in their backyard or increase the depth of an existing pond by removing layers of mud during summer season. A wide assortment of counterfeit waterways are delegated ponds. A few ponds are made particularly for territory reclamation, including water treatment. Others, similar to water gardens, water highlights and koi ponds are intended for stylish ornamentation as scene or building highlights.

Fish ponds are designed for commercial fish breeding, and solar ponds designed to store thermal energy. Standing waterways, for example, puddles, ponds, and lakes are frequently classified independently from streaming water courses, for example, rivulets, rivers, streams or waterways. Supplement levels and water quality in ponds can be controlled through characteristic process, for example, algal development, or through simulated filtration, for example, a green growth scrubber.
